The Opportunity

The Bluebird Care franchise model is not only about being in business for yourself, it is also about being part of one of the largest and fastest growing franchise networks in the UK and Ireland.

At Bluebird Care, with over 200 offices across the UK and Ireland we have the knowledge and experience to provide new and existing franchisees the best possible business support that we feel is unrivalled anywhere in the UK and Ireland.

Bluebird Care’s growth has been exceptional. From a standing start in June 2006 we now have over 200 franchised offices throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. Because our business was born in the UK, we understand this market. We feel our growth demonstrates the success of our proven business model, which has been developed in the UK for the UK market.

Our aim to deliver the best possible home care and support services to our customers is underpinned by a unique level of business and regulatory support to our franchisees.

The continuing success of the Bluebird Care franchise model saw Bluebird Care and Florida based Interim Healthcare Inc. join forces to form one of the largest care franchisors in the world. Interim Healthcare Inc., having been formed in 1966, is the most established US care franchisor and currently have over 300 franchised offices throughout the US.

Being part of the Bluebird Care network is now about benefiting from even greater access to knowledge and shared best practice in home care delivery, training, marketing and financial benchmarks, fuelling innovation and improving efficiencies in both brands.

Our interest in Bluebird Care was driven by the fact the founders have created a durable, scalable and profitable model of care delivered by a strong network of franchisees. The fit within the Interim Healthcare Group is good, as we have a large successful franchise network throughout the USA.

The opportunities in the home care and support sector are significant. Nearly everyone knows someone who needs care and support in their own home. Such is the market’s current size and future growth potential, demand for high quality home care and support services is forecast to continue to increase.

The break-even point of a Bluebird Care franchise

The break-even point of a Bluebird Care franchise business is currently (2016) averaging at month 10.

The growth potential of a Bluebird Care franchise

Once the business is established in its market net profits of 15%-20% are achievable.

There are many proven opportunities to diversify the core business model in your territory. Home care providers often focus on older people and in doing so limit their potential to provide additional critical services to their market. Bluebird Care is inclusive in its capability to provide high quality home care services across numerous market segments. These include providing support to people with learning disabilities, delivering respite services for children and their family carers, supporting NHS Discharge Teams with the transition of their patients from hospital to home and assisting with the delivery of complex care.

In addition, there may be opportunities to purchase additional territories. Currently, over 30 of our franchisees have more than one territory.

Testimonials

What our franchisees say

“I was seeking a new opportunity to run my own business, and looked at the franchise market. I was particularly attracted to Bluebird Care for three reasons; the size of the UK care market, the strength of the Bluebird Care brand and the ability of their business model to be resilient in tough economic conditions. When I joined, I found the support and training offered by Bluebird Care to be very strong, particularly in the early days when all the care terminology plus policies and procedures can be new and slightly bewildering.

We’ve enjoyed considerable success since launching our business, and I would measure this on the size of our long standing customer base, the quality of our care staff and the strength of our office management team. I can honestly say that our time with Bluebird Care has been extremely busy, but very rewarding, and it’s allowed me to develop my own management skills significantly.”

Paul BarryBluebird Care Chichester, Epsom & Kingston, Oxford, Reigate, Sussex Weald

“Before joining Bluebird Care, we were both working long hours, and doing lots of travelling, in large American owned companies. Whilst it was what we knew, we weren’t getting the fulfillment from our jobs that we really desired. In short, we were seeking a rewarding lifestyle change. We looked in other directions but felt that none of them offered us the compelling opportunity ‘to give something back’ that we believed we had with Bluebird Care. We now have a superior quality of life in terms of work/life balance and we are firmly focused on growing our service within our community in the months and years ahead. A decision we wish we had made sooner, for sure.

It is a privilege to be actively involved, on a day to day basis, in assisting people to live comfortably and happily in their own homes, and giving their families the peace of mind that comes with knowing that their loved ones are in the compassionate, caring hands of our dedicated care staff.”

Anne InglisBluebird Care South Bucks & Slough

“We did a lot of research. It was obvious from the ageing population figures that there was a market opportunity in care. We looked at several care franchise companies but were really impressed on meeting with Simon Dalziel and Paul Tarsey, Directors of Bluebird Care and the whole decision to join the network just seemed right to us. We liked the business model, and the support that the company offered. Having sought care for a family member, we knew about the poor standards of care in the market and how important it is to offer great customer service.

We’re pleased to say that our business is thriving, and we now have a great core team of 120 care workers working for our Edinburgh office. The job satisfaction comes from knowing you are making a difference; putting a smile on customer’s faces and receiving some great feedback and notes from satisfied customers. We’re looking ahead to more success, building our customer base and growing the business.”
