The growth potential of a Bluebird Care franchise
Once a Bluebird Care business is established we would expect to see operating profits of 15%-20%.
Unlike many other domiciliary care franchisors, there are many proven opportunities to diversify the core business within the Bluebird care model. Home care providers often focus on older people and in doing so limit their potential to provide additional critical services to their market. Bluebird Care is inclusive in its capability to provide high quality home care services across numerous market segments. These include providing support to people with learning disabilities, delivering respite services for children and their family carers, supporting NHS Discharge Teams with the transition of their patients from hospital to home and assisting with the delivery of complex care.
In addition, there may be opportunities to purchase additional territories. Currently, over 30 of our franchisees have more than one territory.
The break-even point of a Bluebird Care franchise
The break-even point of a Bluebird Care franchise business is currently averaging at month 10.

The Financial Investment
How much money will I need to set up a Bluebird Care business?
The price of the home care franchise package is £40,000 +VAT.
In addition to the franchise package fee start-up costs and working capital will need consideration. Typically the total investment is approximately £115,000.
When you are considering starting your own business, it can be daunting when the focus is on the financial investment required. This is where Bluebird Care can offer unrivalled support to get your business up and running.
We enjoy an excellent relationship with HSBC, NatWest, RBS and Lloyds Banking Group, who are all willing to lend up to 70% of the total investment required. This relationship has been built over the years in business since our inception and the banks confidence in Bluebird Care is underpinned by our year in year out consistent high performance and growth.

A Proven Business Model
Bluebird Care is an award-winning homecare franchise, with a proven business model
Our franchise owners manage and develop their businesses, ensuring that a caring and experienced team are recruited and highly trained, to deliver the highest standards of home care and support to their customers.
What we look for is determination, empathy and passion.
Our franchise owners come from a variety of backgrounds but with one common goal: the determination to develop a successful home care business and work to a proven business model. Bluebird Care franchise owners have the passion to provide the highest quality of home care and support in their territory, creating a rich diversity of expertise in the Bluebird Care franchise network. The Franchise Support Centre offers business support at your fingertips, with a dedicated business development manager and quality manager to help guide you along your way, therefore previous experience in the home care sector is not essential.
We follow a clear recruitment process when selecting franchise owners. Opportunities are given only to those people who demonstrate to us that they have the qualities and business ethos to build the very best businesses – Businesses that can provide the highest quality care at home and support to our customers, whilst maintaining Bluebird Care’s reputation as one of the leading brands in the provision of home care and support in the industry.
The Bluebird Care model has dedicated roles within the team including:
- Franchise owners
- Registered manager
- Coordinator
- Supervisor
On top of this, Bluebird Care has a dedicated onboarding manager, who is with you from your initial start-up and throughout your first year in running the business to act as your mentor, sounding board and business coach – that extra helping hand to help find your premises, develop your business plan, employ your care manager, register with the relevant regulatory body, and much, much more!

Testimonials

What our franchisees say
“I was seeking a new opportunity to run my own business, and looked at the franchise market. I was particularly attracted to Bluebird Care for three reasons; the size of the UK care market, the strength of the Bluebird Care brand and the ability of their business model to be resilient in tough economic conditions. When I joined, I found the support and training offered by Bluebird Care to be very strong, particularly in the early days when all the care terminology plus policies and procedures can be new and slightly bewildering.
We’ve enjoyed considerable success since launching our business, and I would measure this on the size of our long standing customer base, the quality of our care staff and the strength of our office management team. I can honestly say that our time with Bluebird Care has been extremely busy, but very rewarding, and it’s allowed me to develop my own management skills significantly.”
“Before joining Bluebird Care, we were both working long hours, and doing lots of travelling, in large American owned companies. Whilst it was what we knew, we weren’t getting the fulfillment from our jobs that we really desired. In short, we were seeking a rewarding lifestyle change. We looked in other directions but felt that none of them offered us the compelling opportunity ‘to give something back’ that we believed we had with Bluebird Care. We now have a superior quality of life in terms of work/life balance and we are firmly focused on growing our service within our community in the months and years ahead. A decision we wish we had made sooner, for sure.
It is a privilege to be actively involved, on a day to day basis, in assisting people to live comfortably and happily in their own homes, and giving their families the peace of mind that comes with knowing that their loved ones are in the compassionate, caring hands of our dedicated care staff.”
“We did a lot of research. It was obvious from the ageing population figures that there was a market opportunity in care. We looked at several care franchise companies but were really impressed on meeting with Simon Dalziel and Paul Tarsey, Directors of Bluebird Care and the whole decision to join the network just seemed right to us. We liked the business model, and the support that the company offered. Having sought care for a family member, we knew about the poor standards of care in the market and how important it is to offer great customer service.
We’re pleased to say that our business is thriving, and we now have a great core team of 120 care workers working for our Edinburgh office. The job satisfaction comes from knowing you are making a difference; putting a smile on customer’s faces and receiving some great feedback and notes from satisfied customers. We’re looking ahead to more success, building our customer base and growing the business.”
“The network is like a family, they mostly go on with their own lives but are always there to support you when you need them.”
“The best thing about Bluebird Care is that we get to follow a model that simply works!”
“The best thing about being part of the Bluebird Care network is being an owner of my own business and knowing the service we provide makes a difference.”
“I enjoy being part of a network where we can share ideas.”
